Join us in a ‘Devotion of Hope’

As the leaves begin to fall, we witness God’s divine hand in the change of seasons. Fall is also a nod to the closing of the Christian Church year. Christ the King Sunday, which is November 20th, marks the last Sunday on the calendar, giving way to the season of Advent, which commences a
new year in the church. Advent is a time of preparation for the light of Christ. It is a time that guides us to explore what Christmas means to us personally, and to discover the greatest gift we can give to our family, friends, and the world.

This year, the members of Hope will be asked to contribute our thoughts about the meaning of Advent. We will compile an “Devotion of Hope”, that will be available for everyone to enjoy during the season. This is how it will work:

Twenty-eight Bible verses, centered around the foretelling of Christmas will be provided. Choose a reading, and write a short reflection, a prayer, or perhaps words to a hymn that reveals your own interpretation of the verse. It doesn’t have to be long or complex, just heart-felt. People of ALL ages are encouraged to participate! Submit your devotion to Karen Schweinfest via email or hard copy by November 13.
